  20. The focus of the USER-DOC2 Working Group is on identifying and locating
  21. documentation about the Internet. A major activity is the revision of
  22. an existing bibliography of on-line and hard copy documents/reference
  23. materials/training tools addressing general networking information and
  24. ``How to use the Internet'' (RFC 1175, FYI 3). This effort will also be
  25. used to help locate documentation produced by other organizations and
  26. examine the means by which such documents are made available on the
  27. Internet. The target audience is those individuals who provide services
  28. to end users and end users themselves. The Group is also developing a
  29. new FYI RFC document designed as a very short bibliography targeted at
  30. novice users.

  32. The USER-DOC2 Working Group will:
  33.  
  34. (1) Identify and categorize useful documents, reference materials,
  35. training tools, and other publications about the Internet, particularly
  36. those available on-line.
  37.  
  38. (2) Publish on-line and hard copies of the bibliography(s) produced and
  39. other reference material on documentation as needs are identified.
  40.  
  41. (3) Develop and implement procedures to maintain and update the
  42. bibliography and investigate methods to provide the information in an
  43. on-line format.
  44.  
  45. (4) As a part of the update process, identify new materials for
  46. inclusion into the active bibliography and identify additional needs
  47. which are required for locating documentation and other publications.
  48.  
  49. (5) Review procedures for periodic review of the bibliography by the
  50. User Services Working Group.
  51.  
  52. (6) Examine methods for delivering documentation and work with
  53. providers to improve the availability of basic Internet documentation.

  56. Goals and Milestones:

  58.      Done Identify new ``sources of information'' (e.g., individuals, mailing 
  59.           lists, bulletins, etc.) Review existing document and obtain comments 
  60.           from others in USWG about needed revisions at the San Diego IETF.

  62.      Done Publish Internet-Draft of the short bibliography for novice users.   
  63.  
  64.      Done Submit the revised FYI document to the IESG for publication as an 
  65.           RFC.                                                                 
  66.  
  67.      Done Post a revised version of FYI3, ``A bibliography of Internetworking 
  68.           Information'' as an Internet-Draft.

  70.    Apr 93 Submit the revised FYI3 to the IESG for publication as an 
  71.           Informational RFC.
